We have introduced four 1/18 scale Hyundai Elantra diecast models at different generations in previous post, 1/18 Hyundai Elantra Diecast Models at Different Generations, in that article, we mentioned that the 4^th generation Hyundai Elantra released in 2008 had the Chinese name Yuedong, and in 2016, this Hyundai Elantra Yuedong was discontinued in China because the 6^th Hyundai Elantra named as Lingdong was released in this year.

If you are familiar with Hyundai cars being produced and sold in China, you must have heard of Hyundai Celesta which was released in 2017. Coincidentally, the Chinesee name of new released Hyundai Celesta is Yuedong, the same Chinese name as 4^th generation Hyundai Elantra. Do you know the relationship between these two Hyundai cars?

The 4^th generation Hyundai Elantra was discontinued in South Korea in 2010, and later the 5^th generation Elantra was released. However, in China, the 4^th generation Hyundai Elantra was still produced by Beijing Hyundai joint venture until 2016. Between 2012 to 2016, there are two Hyundai Elantra cars, including 4^th generation Yuedong and 5^th generation Langdong, in the Chinese market. With the release of 6^th generation Hyundai Elantra, it is not possible to produce 4^th generation Elantra unceasingly, in this case, Hyundai Celesta was released to replace the extended production of the Hyundai Elantra Yuedong.

In diecast car models market, both the 4^th generation Elantra yuedong and Hyundai Celesta, also named as new Yuedong, are avalable for car model collectors and car owners, however, there's a world of difference in prices, it is common to find 2017 Hyundai Celesta diecast model at an affordable price, as for 4^th generation Elantra yuedong model, it is very rare and expensive.

In 2020, with the release of 7^th generation Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Celesta was discontinued to be produced even if you can also get the 2020 version Celesta.
